Ruby Rose could use some improvment in character, honestly. Ruby ios the average anime innocent moe. Innocent moe attitude and girl dressed up in red robes carrying around the grim reapers scythe gun version just does not..mix. It's a great show though so far.
I'm so glad someone else agrees ^_^. Also, I just plain dislike Genki Girls. The only Genki Girl I actually like is Haruhi, and Pinkie Pie is alright (despite getting away with being a bitch alot), since she made Cheese Sandwich possible. I hate female tsunderes too, but at least Weiss has a personality beyond that, and I like her. And female shrinking violets/moe in general. They are not 'cute', they are annoying. And sexist. Don't get me started on the Fluttershy fanbase (or fandumb, if I again go by trope terms). At least the show (RWBY, I mean) has none of them (well, Ruby does have it mildly, as she is socially awkward).
Well, I quite like Blake, actually (you are free to your opinions too, of course), as she is the most interesting, personality-wise, to me, if a bit angsty at times. And I can relate to the social awkwardness, but not the 'I just want to be normal!' cliché). And just like in RvB with Allison, and most other series out there, we have a dead mother (in the form of Summer, but I hope she will get development outside of being 'X's Wife/Mother', unlike Allison). And of course, when we have a non-action male character, he has to be shamed for it, and has to become action hero, because you know, having a non-combatant male in a world of combat is an awful, useless thing. However, at least with him we have a female mentor in the form of Pyrrha (and as much as I love her, she is a bit if a doormat/too easily forgiving). Saying that, along with Yang, they are my favourite characters. And Cardin is the generic bully. And Nora, despite being a genki girl and a bit insane. And Ren is nice, though he hasn't really been developed enough. And also, the two male-female pairs just have to be paired -_-. And the female villain has to dress sexy, and most female characters have to have skirts or high heels -_- (though it is nice to see a female villain who is in charge...even though that's the only are a woman rules...the general could have been female, Weiss's mother could be the owner, you know, mix the typical-gender roles up a bit).
I personally love Yang, even if she is the typical 'always happy girl' and, along with Pyrrha, is used for fanservice (and it's always a female character for fanservice), but I love that...as strange as this sounds, that she punches as her main attack, she is super strong, has fire as a power, and a dragon-related name.
I still am enjoying the series, though, as much as RVB.
I agree that Cardin is a generic bully. He's like other fictional bullies that are plot tools rather than interesting characters.
Yang, to me, "meh" I don't hate/like her. Pyrhaa is boring, Jaune's a cardboard cutout of other weaklings from other movies, Cinder I don't know yet-but her voice doesn't fit her, and Weiss....meh. Nora is, to me, like a moe, but not so much as Ruby is. Ren I want to see more of before judging.
Yup. I like it when characters are actually given a reason to bully, and an actual character.
Very well. However, as much as I like Pyrrha, that whole speech about 'Oh, no one approaches me because they think I'm too good for them!' just made me facepalm. That's pretty much what a character comes out with when they have no faults, to try and make a flaw. Well, Nora is that moe, as she is rather violent and powerful. Same.
No, she's not. She's only 'awesome' because a man made her that way. She falls right into the Never A Self Made Woman category, and it seems Blake might fall into that too, with Adam (who is a boring, generic male character anyway, as her 'mentor'). I'm suprized Oun would go for such a thing.
-_- dude, not going to aruge, I like RWBY just the way it is. No offense, but im not intrested in listening to this. I may be coming off as a jerk and im sorry for that, but i just like the series just the way it is
True. But ive been yelled at enough for scientificly stating my opinion and been insulted. I just wanted to make sure i wasnt being rude or seeming like a jerk. Im quite the oppisite. I want to make friends on here so i try hard to be friendly.
I can understand. People can be so toxic when it comes to their fandoms. It's always good to see a nice member . Well, I can be the same. I'm only hostile to those who are hostile to me, or deliver their opinion in general in a hostile way (or I was respond with sarcasm).
