Inspired more or less by the work of * Wen-M and his beautifully ornate work...
About a week into this one I was feeling technically unimpressed by this work here. It started with my GF on the left and a pair of earings that I thought matched the dress very well. From that I wanted to do something very ornate and natural looking with an uber amount of detail. That having been done, I realized it was still much of the same thing I've been doing for a while, and so this sat for a while.
Then a stock account I had been watching caught my eye, ~oaghxstock whom I had overlooked in thumbnail view. But going closer I saw a very emotive person whom somehow felt very real to me. It's a shame I'll never meet her, I really just don't give into this whole internet thing. But at the least I could include her in this image. The photo used was [link] with some amount of changes.
I hope *of-a-glass-heart (her main account) notices my work and post some more stock photos that I can use more liberally, it was a joy to work on this one indeed.
I am now technically impressed...
The shards of glass are rendered in Bryce 4 in which by some stroke of luck came entirely free with the purchase of last month's 3D World magazine. Had already had the wing & outfit done on the right and simply needed to fill the scene. All of it came together very appropriately at the end with the stock as well as the 3d objects in the scene.
WIth the amount of time put into it there's little in my mind's eye that was left out except some chains that I couldn't import into the scene for technical reasons.
The Bryce scene which took 8+ hrs to render gave me an excellent result to build the completed photomanipulation out of. Therefore once the scene was finished, it only then afterwards required some minor touch ups.
Here is a detail shot for those of you interested in seeing the wings up close [link]
